Running an Intervention

Well, today the Annika Summit convened, complete with Program Director, lead teacher, and "classroom observer". Concerns are: Annikas "unusually defined sense of personal borders", separation anxiety, lack of words, and apparent lack of interest in walking. So, we decided to bring in the big guns, Early Intervention. Surprisingly, this was suggested with maximum diplomacy. I guess the school meets with a lot of parents who are resistant to admit there might be anything wrong with their children. I say, take the free services when they are offered! We're behind on a lot of other Western countries in terms of government sponsored daycare and year-long maternity leaves, take those state-sponsored services when you can get them and be glad! So, she'll go through an observation period and we'll see what they say.
This for me is one hardest parts of parenthood, wondering, "is it a stage, or is there something wrong?".

Ick. Good luck. I truly think Annika is just doing things at her own sweet pace. She's so happy and also so communicative, even without talking. Eli didn't say ANYTHING until a month before he turned two (really! he didn't even say "Mommy") and now he is a total blabbermouth. I think it will all get evened out with Annika's milestones in a year or so.
