Take a moment.
I find that in my perpetually schedule-minded state, I am constantly rattling off to Jaya The Plans For The Day. As in: "Today is Friday, so that means pizza night, and then on Saturday we'll get up, go out for breakfast, then we'll go to the playground, and then maybe we'll stop at Crazy Janes for ice cream. If we do that, do you want chocolate or Superman?". To which he will always respond along the lines of "right, it's pizza night!". Point is, one of the joys of childhood is that children actually live in the moment instead of talking about living in the moment, and do not dwell on what's to come because why would you waste that mental energy when you could be whole-heartedly enjoying whatever it is you are doing at this very moment? Every time this happens I resolve to quit projecting my adult need for time control on his innocent little 4 year old brain, and just relax. This is going to be my New Years resolution.
