A taxing issue

Although I rant and rave against McCain, I do make my best effort to remind myself that everybody has the right to vote for whomever they choose, and that is what makes this a beautiful country. Give me a few valid reasons why you are voting for McCain, I will hold my tongue. But, to vote for McCain purely out of concern for taxes going up, I have a hard time keeping quiet.
We all like our money, we work hard for it. Nobody wants to give it away. But I think many, many people forget what a difference our tax dollars make to our lives. Infrastructure, highways, schools, programs for our children to just name a few. I have spent time in the third world and when you've got more potholes than roads, garbage burning in your backyard and no free vaccinations for your children, taxes start looking pretty good.
Americans as a whole need to spend more time abroad for a number of reasons, but appreciating the role of taxation in our lives is surely an important one.
