Mis-conception

Due to Agustis obsessive watching of the campaigns over the last few months, I have been treated to overhearing many insightful, well-spoken and outward-looking opinions called in by our fellow Americans to a variety of so-called news programs. But I think one I heard last night took the cake. A woman caller stated that she is voting for McCain because he is pro-choice, and the "Lord will take care of the economy". Well, I do check hopefully every day, but the mail carrier has yet to deliver a check for the mortgage signed, "I've got it, God".
I understand that abortion is an important issue, and like all intensely emotional issues, a polarizing one. I am just as pro-choice as this caller was pro-life. But how thousands (millions?) can place this as a more important issue than the global economy and the defense issues at hand is truly baffling, to say the least. We all have moments when we wonder how we can be inhabiting the same country as someone else. That was mine.
