A little Literati

This Sunday Jaya and I went to the Danforth Museum to meet Brian Lies, the author of his current favorite book, "Bats at the Library". We saw the original artwork, had our copy signed, and heard the author read the story. Jaya had that kind of Christmas morning look on his face taking it all in. But I thought the best thing about the whole event was when the author brought out a 3 panel drawing he did in second grade. It showed a fox and a cave. The fox going in, the fox going out. The story line was " A fox went in a cave, and then he came out." It was a great way to show the kids how even if you start off doing something really simply, or not as well as you would like, or as well as other people, you can master a skill with enough practice. Such an important message for kids to hear.
