Halloween

Considering this is the best picture I could get of the kids before we set out for Halloween, I should have known we were headed for trouble. Only a few houses in our nut-allergic trick-or-treating buddy ate a peanut M&M and had to be swiftly removed from the scene. A few minutes later, Annika started wailing for bed and had to be taken home. It was starting to take on the eerie quality of "10 Little Indians". After managing to convince Jaya that the little old lady who gave out the peanut M&M's was NOT trying to purposefully hurt people we bravely continued on. Sadly, our Power Ranger boots turned out to actually have no Power, and in fact were just really chafing. So we cut our losses, headed home, where Jaya promptly burst into tears, said that Halloween made him "sad" and that he really just wanted to to be Storm Strike Ranger, and not Blue Wind, after all. The picture says it all.

ha ha! I don't mean to laugh, but ours didn't go much better. At one point, David was lugging Erin like a sack of potatoes, butterfly skirt almost over her head, because she kept running out into the street instead of up the sidewalk to the candy.

We got not one smile through the whole ordeal. And being at home handing out candy wasn't much better - because every time someone came to the door, Erin wailed to go outside. Finally, she just collapsed and went to bed. We quickly turned out all the lights, shut down the candy giveaway and got into bed to watch a movie on the laptop.
