Helping.

Last night the stomach bug hit. The 2 AM in the hair, glazing the face, chicken nugget bits-encrusted Elmo, dripping off the sides of the crib- kind of stomach bug. Every mothers first reaction, after sticking hair up on top of side and blindly groping for the carpet cleaner and paper towels, which are never where you need them, is setting up the perimeter. Containment. The afflicted child is to be cleaned and coaxed back to sleep and otherwise managed until better but the second one MUST NOT GET SICK. Especially when sickness hits two days before mothers one solo day of the week with the children.
So just about the last thing you want to see the next morning is #2 on his hands and knees in the middle of a big, stinky, still-drying spot of mess-cleanup, happily squirting carpet cleaner and rubbing the spot with a sodden, raggedy kleenex, brightly announcing, "Mommy, I'm helping you clean!".
It's going to be a long weekend.

Ha ha! So sorry about the bug, but this still made me laugh.

Speaking of puke, we're still trying to get the smell out of our car. We were on our way to happy hour on Saturday when Erin exploded in the back seat.

She doesn't yet understand the words "vomit" or "throw up" or "puke". When I tried to ask her how her tummy was and reminded her what had happened in the car. She said "burp. big." :)

At least ours did seem to be an isolated incident.
