Annika update.

OK, before you get excited, no, she is NOT walking. Yesterday I got a call from our special low-tone task force, and was told that Annikas left ankle is bowing out. We now need to bring a physical therapist on the scene for further evaluation. Apparently, low muscle tone in legs don't do the ankles any favors (secretly, I'm thinking all the tone is concentrated in her very toned vocal cords). So I am holding off on purchasing the extremely cute brown and pink criss-cross strap early walkers I was about to buy, as it looks like we might be investing in the "extra ankle support" shoes, AKA the shoes your parents wore in their baby pictures. Why do they have to look so orthopedic? Would it really hurt to throw some flowers or something on there? or make them something other than plain white? You might as well stick a sign on the baby saying "I have PROBLEM FEET" when they're wearing these things. They're not even on the same grid as all the fun pink and brown Stride Rite early walkers, they're stuck way down in a corner of the page near the customer service contact info, like an ugly cousin. I'm gluing some bling on these things.

I actually just saw a toddler wearing these a few weeks ago, and my first thought was, "How cute! How nice and retro!" It was refreshing to see a baby in simple shoes that didn't light up or have Elmo on them.

Oh, but Erin had some of these and they really are soooo darling. As soon as I saw them in person I just had to have them. Of course, we are able to get all the cute ones too.

And just FYI, you can get them prettied up a bit - Erin's had little flowers around the ankle. Check out a stride rite store.
